Another woman of excellence, an artist acclaimed around the world, Fatoumata Diawara

She is one of the great voices of African music today. She is a singer, actress, author, composer, performer… A woman who viscerally claims her freedom as an individual, a woman, and an artist, an Amazon who proudly follows in the footsteps of the founder of the great Mandinka kingdom, the rebel who took control of her life and inspired millions of other women, the Malian artist who is particularly committed to fighting female genital mutilation and arranged marriages, the sublime Fatoumata Diawara, was present at the Folies Bergère during the big HOPE POWER evening we organized last December to celebrate the 15th anniversary of our NGO.

Fatoumata performed “Nterini,” a song dedicated to all those who leave their country to escape war or poverty, all those who are rejected, seeking help and protection, as well as their families… It is a tribute to “the freedom to leave, to learn about the world, to be accepted, to embrace diversity, difference, and love for one another…”
