'Reinventing Peace with young generations' AI ODD - UN Geneva
Paris, May 26, 2026
To mark ‘International Consciousness Day’, part of our team was in Geneva on 2 April, in partnership with the International Alliance for Sustainable Development Goals (AIODD), whose president, Pascale Fressoz, co-organised, alongside Sofia Stril-Rever, founder of the LoveForce philanthropic fund, a symposium dedicated to youth and peace.
The UN event at Geneva, was supported by a broad coalition of foundations and NGOs (including our own), local authorities in the Savoie region, and schools, higher education institutions and research bodies based primarily in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Geneva, culminated in a passionate call from civil society to create spaces for encounter, dialogue and raising awareness among building peace and contributing together to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Some 900 people attended, both in person and online, to hear the poignant messages from around thirty speakers from 13 countries, such as Melissa Parke, 2017 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former Australian minister, and the initiators of the Mothers’ Call for Peace, Palestinian Reem Al Hajajreh and Israeli Yael Admi, who reminded the audience that their children were not born to kill or to be killed.
Some 250 students from the region put forward concrete, creative and bold proposals, which will be compiled in a white paper and then forwarded to decision-makers in our countries.
And because art and culture allow us to go beyond words, the discussions were punctuated by the work of visual artist Anima, the music of the brilliant Iraqi conductor Karim Wasfi, and the voices of the United Nations Choir.
