ā€˜Because hunger doesn’t take a holiday’

Paris, July 9, 2026

Once again this year, many pupils – and teachers – have taken part in these citizenship education programmes, from nursery school to BTS level, in mainland France, RĆ©union, Bangladesh, Morocco, Madagascar and Togo.
And their fantastic feedback encourages us to expand our work even further. Just this once, we’d like to invite you today to discover the work of the pupils in a Year 6 class in Paris’s 17th arrondissement.

Year 6 pupils choose to get involved in helping the most disadvantaged

All the children in the Year 6 class worked together to organise this wonderful charity project called ā€˜Let’s Share Our Good Fortune and Our Wealth’, and as their teacher points out, ā€˜Everyone did their bit!’.

Sympathetic to the plight of the most disadvantaged, who are left alone in deserted towns during the summer months, they decided to organise a collection in aid of the charity AoĆ»t Secours Alimentaire (ASA), whose mission is precisely to step in for the charities and organisations that distribute food aid whilst they are on their ā€˜summer holidays’. Every year, more than 20,000 people are helped thanks to their efforts.

To bring their project to life, the young people first produced flyers calling for donations, including short messages to encourage their families and school to support the cause, because ā€œeveryone should have enough to eat, even during the holidaysā€. They managed to raise €1,000, as well as food donations brought in on the day!

Once again, the children have shown us that you’re never too young to do good and that everyone can play their part in building a more caring society.
