The founder of Action Froid has passed away. Long live Action Froid!

“There are men who leave a mark of greatness;
Laurent was one of them… I loved capturing that presence,
that human force that hits you right in the face.
I took it in, I held onto it… Forever.”
Nicole Banoun
Director of Photography – film “Laurent Eyzat, quand fraternité fait loi”

He was—and always will be—one of our Imagine Heroes, the kind of “guy” we love: exuberant yet modest, charismatic yet sensitive, always ready with a joke, a lover of freedom, committed, and supportive…
Like Paul Fort’s little white horse, he was very brave and forged ahead, leading others in his wake… And so, in the winter of 2012, outraged by the number of people living on the streets, he founded Action Froid, an organization dedicated to helping the homeless.

A tribute from the Imagine Project team:
“– Laurent had a huge heart, boundless energy, and an innate sense of humor that went hand in hand with great modesty…
– Farewell, my friend; dance among the stars now—you will remain in our hearts forever.
– With his passing, humanity has lost a hero unlike any other.
– Thanks to his organization and thanks to our film Imagine, let’s hope that his warmth of spirit continues to shine… especially in times like these.
– This is very sad news. A man who dedicated his life to the most vulnerable. I hope he passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.
– It was quite remarkable that he was able to come to the event celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Imagine Project last December. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I had spoken with him on the phone to arrange his attendance at that “Hope Power” event, which he was so excited about! He was a huge fan of Chris Martin and Coldplay and was so happy to be able to come with his children, see him in person, and feel the excitement together with us.
– He had told me he was sick. Despite everything, he kept his wit, his humor, and his good spirits—qualities we all appreciated at Projet Imagine.
– A genuine man, no-nonsense. An Imagine hero who embodied truth, selflessness, and sensitivity. He will leave a huge void.

Our thoughts are with his mother, Arlette, and his children, Marie and Florian, as well as with the association’s staff, who must feel as though they have lost a father figure, even though Laurent had stepped down some time ago… But he was a man who knew how to create a “human family”—a concept dear to Frédérique Bedos.

So, while Laurent has moved on to other “outreach missions,” Action Froid is still here and needs all the support it can get! The idea is simple: anyone can come—no strings attached, no obligations. Just spending a Saturday night lending a hand to the outreach teams is already a huge help. So go for it! It’s the best tribute we can pay him…
